How is Atlas Ink's data-sovereignty story different from Crossware's?

Crossware lets you select the Azure region where its service processes data. Atlas Ink goes further on ownership: the service, per-tenant database, and encryption keys run in your own Azure subscription, so there is no vendor-hosted processing of your signature data to locate. If your requirement is that data never leaves your tenant, ownership addresses it more directly than region choice.

Does Atlas Ink apply signatures server-side like Crossware?

No. Atlas Ink writes each user's Outlook compose signature through the Exchange admin API and never stamps mail in transit or routes mail through Atlas. Crossware applies signatures server-side at the transport layer, which covers every client but places the vendor in the mail path.

Where does Atlas Ink store signature data?

In your own Azure subscription. Atlas Ink provisions a per-tenant PostgreSQL database, App Service, and Key Vault that you own. Only aggregate usage counts leave your tenant, and only for metered billing.

Can Atlas Ink match Crossware's rules-based assignment?

Atlas Ink assigns signatures by user, group, or tenant with precedence (user > group > tenant), which covers department, role, and group signatures. Crossware offers a granular rules engine; the two reach comparable targeting through different models.

How is Atlas Ink priced?

Metered per active user per month, active users only, with no seat minimums and no annual commitment, billed through the Azure Marketplace on your existing Azure invoice. Crossware uses a per-user subscription tiered by seat, billed by the vendor.

Is Atlas Ink available in Azure Government or GCC High?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Atlas Ink is commercial cloud only today and fails closed for sovereign clouds; GCC High and Azure Government support is on the roadmap. The customer-owned, out-of-mail-path architecture is CMMC-aligned, but it is not CMMC-certified. When GCC High ships, Atlas Ink will be licensed bring-your-own-license (BYOL) rather than metered, since Azure Marketplace metered billing isn't available in that cloud.
