What exactly is a billable unit?

One distinct user with an Atlas Ink signature applied to their mailbox during a calendar month is one unit. A unit is always $1, and the first 25 subscribers (soft-launch special) get a 25% discount on their unit usage, applied on their Stripe invoice. A user with no applied signature that month costs nothing, however many templates exist, and within Atlas Ink a user is never more than one unit per month. The End User Portal is metered separately, so a user active in both products in the same month is two units.

Do I need Atlas AVD to run Atlas Ink?

Accepted Answer

No. You can run Atlas Ink standalone: deploy managed signatures into your own Azure subscription on the free Community plan and prepay units, without ever buying a paid Atlas AVD plan. It is also included with every Atlas AVD plan, from Community through Enterprise Plus and every MSP plan, if you already run the platform.

What does it cost per user?

Usage is billed in units: one unit per active user, per month (one distinct user with a managed signature applied to their mailbox during the calendar month). A unit is always $1; the first 25 subscribers (soft-launch special) get a 25% discount on their unit usage, applied on their Stripe invoice. Units are prepaid and billed via Stripe, purchased in-product through the plan selection. There is no separate Azure Marketplace meter, so usage never lands on your Azure invoice.

Can Atlas Ink run in GCC High or Azure Government?

Not yet. Atlas Ink runs in Azure commercial today and fails closed for sovereign clouds. Azure Government and GCC High are on the roadmap, and are priced exactly the same as commercial: usage billed in units, one unit per active signature user, per month, always $1 per unit, with the first 25 subscribers (soft launch) getting a 25% discount on their unit usage, applied on their Stripe invoice.

Is there a free trial, and does Atlas Ink cost anything during it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Atlas Ink usage is free for the length of your trial. No active-signature users are billed until the trial converts. Every trial starts from the Atlas AVD offer and runs 30 days with full access, Atlas Ink included; when it ends, keep Ink by choosing any paid plan or by staying on the free Community plan with prepaid units.

What happens to deployed signatures if I don't subscribe after the trial?

If a trial ends without converting to a paid subscription, Atlas removes the managed signatures it deployed and restores each mailbox to the signature it had before (right away, with no grace period), so signatures rolled out during a free trial don't stay in place for free. Atlas only ever removes the signature it added; a signature a user set for themselves is never touched.

Question 7

If I cancel a paid subscription, what happens to the signatures already deployed?

Cancelling stops Atlas Ink from keeping your managed signatures in place. Because a pushed signature lives on the mailbox and would otherwise persist, Atlas removes the signatures it applied and restores each mailbox to the signature it had before, after a 7-day grace period following cancellation, so an accidental cancel or a billing blip doesn't wipe your signatures immediately. Atlas only ever removes the signature it added; a signature a user set for themselves is never touched.
