Built for

Teams evaluating Atlas AVD

Connect a real Azure tenant, deploy a host pool, and judge the platform on your own environment rather than a sales demo. No credit card, no time limit.

Labs, test tenants, and proofs of concept

Stand up a non-production AVD environment for testing images, policies, or a migration rehearsal without adding it to a paid subscription.

Small internal environments

A single host pool for one organization, managed by a team that does not yet need automation, autoscaling, or cost intelligence. Atlas AVD removes the one-host-pool limit.

Anyone who wants their data to stay put

Community deploys into your Azure tenant like every other plan. Your AVD environment and its data run in your own tenant; the Atlas control plane receives only the licensing, usage and support data listed in our Privacy Policy.

Consider another plan if

  • You want automation, autoscaling, Cost Intelligence, DrainGuard or self-healing; every AVD feature is on Atlas AVD.
  • More than 10 people a month will sign in to the end-user portal; Atlas AVD removes the monthly portal-user limit entirely.
  • You need more than one host pool or more than one Azure tenant; Atlas AVD is priced per tenant with no host pool limit.

What you can do

Run AVD from one console

Create and manage a host pool, its session hosts, golden images, and assignments for a single Azure tenant without living in the Azure portal.

Try Atlas Advisor for free

Community includes the full Atlas Advisor free: built-in answers and recommendations about your environment, plus plain-language conversations about your environment on your own AI key, the same assistant every paid plan gets.

Bring the whole team

Technician seats are unlimited on every plan, Community included. There is no per-administrator charge for operating the platform.

Give users a self-service portal

Up to 10 distinct users a month can sign in to the branded portal to see and launch the desktops they are assigned to, billed at one unit per active user per month.

Licensing

  • Licensed for internal organizational use only. Community may not be used to manage unrelated third-party customer tenants.
  • One Azure tenant and one host pool. Managing more takes Atlas AVD, priced per tenant.
  • The end-user portal admits up to 10 distinct active users per calendar month. It is a hard limit, not an overage. Portal usage draws one unit per distinct active user per month from the plan's shared monthly unit allowance on every plan, and the allowance plus any purchased units is also the limit; a user turned away at the limit is never billed.
  • Atlas Advisor is included in full at no additional charge: unlimited recommendations, plus conversations on your own AI provider key, subject to fair-use terms. Your AI provider bills its own usage; Atlas never marks it up.
  • Community is supported through the documentation and Atlas Advisor. No plan carries a guaranteed response time or a service level agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Is Community really free?

The platform is: Community costs $0 per month with no credit card and no trial expiry. Usage of the end-user portal is billed at one unit per distinct active user per month, $1 per unit, drawn first from Community's 10 included units a month. Because Community also admits at most 10 portal users a month, the included units cover the portal on their own: portal usage alone costs $0. You also pay Microsoft for the Azure resources Atlas AVD manages on your behalf, because those run in your own subscription.

What happens when the portal hits 10 active users?

The limit is hard: once 10 distinct users have signed in during a calendar month, no further users can start a portal session until the next month. Nobody is charged for going over. Only admitted users are billed, at one unit per active user per month; the way to raise the limit is to move to Atlas AVD, which admits unlimited active portal users.

Can I upgrade later without redeploying?

Yes. Atlas AVD runs in your own Azure tenant on every plan, so moving from Community to Atlas AVD changes what is licensed, not where anything runs. Your host pools, configuration, and history stay where they are.

What support does Community include?

Community is supported through the documentation and Atlas Advisor. Free product support by email and in-app ticket comes with Atlas AVD. All support is provided by US persons located in the United States.
