GoDaddy (Domains) Integration

Connect GoDaddy to Atlas AVD to see every domain in your GoDaddy account with its expiry date, auto-renew setting and DNS records, and more.

Before you begin

  • A Atlas AVD plan. The Integrations hub is not available on Community
  • The Administrator role in Atlas to connect, configure or disconnect a connector. Integrations appears under Administration only for administrators
  • A tenant selected in the tenant picker. Credentials are stored encrypted per tenant, so each tenant you manage connects its own account
  • A GoDaddy Personal Access Token with the domains.domain:read scope, created in the GoDaddy developer dashboard
  • A GoDaddy account that GoDaddy allows to use its domains API

What you can do

  • See every domain in the GoDaddy account: expiry date, days left, whether it renews automatically, and its GoDaddy status.
  • Spot the domains that need attention: those expiring within 30 days without auto-renew, and those already expired.
  • Read a domain's DNS records at GoDaddy: name, type, value and TTL.
  • Get a Domain Expiring alert, checked daily, that resolves itself once the domain is renewed.
  • Ask Atlas Advisor which domains expire soon, whether a domain auto-renews, or for a domain's DNS records, with or without an AI provider.

Step 1: Create a Personal Access Token in GoDaddy

Sign in to the GoDaddy developer dashboard with the account that owns the domains and create a Personal Access Token for Atlas with the domains.domain:read scope. That scope only reads domains and DNS records. Copy the token when it is shown. A classic API key and secret (KEY:SECRET) is not accepted: GoDaddy is retiring key and secret access for domains.

Step 2: Connect in Atlas

Once connected, the card shows Manage, which opens the GoDaddy page, and Disconnect. The token is stored encrypted and is the only thing Atlas stores.

  1. Select the tenant in the tenant picker.
  2. Go to Administration → Integrations and click Connect on the GoDaddy card.
  3. Paste the token into API Token and click Connect. Atlas reads your domains before saving anything; if GoDaddy rejects the token, nothing is stored.

The GoDaddy page

  • Overview: Total Domains, Expiring Within 30 Days, Expired and Needs Attention, plus Auto-Renew Coverage: how many domains renew automatically.
  • Domains: every domain with Expires, Days Left (green, amber inside 30 days, red inside 7 days or once expired), Auto-Renew and Status. Search by domain or status and sort by any column.
  • DNS Records: pick a domain to see its records at GoDaddy with their type, name, value and TTL.

Domain Expiring alerts

Once a day Atlas reads the account's domains and keeps one open Domain Expiring alert per domain that needs attention. It reaches your inbox and the notification bell, your tenant's webhooks and its administrators by email, and links to the GoDaddy page.

  • A domain that expires within 30 days with auto-renew off raises a warning, and an error inside 7 days.
  • An expired domain raises a critical alert. If auto-renew was on, the alert says the renewal charge most likely failed.
  • A domain with auto-renew on raises nothing until it is actually past its date.
  • The alert resolves on its own once the domain is renewed, auto-renew is turned on, or the domain leaves the account. A day on which GoDaddy cannot be read resolves nothing.
  • Domain Expiring is managed by Atlas, so it has no threshold to edit.

What the integration does not do

  • It is read-only. It does not renew domains, change auto-renew, edit DNS records, change name servers or transfer domains: do that in GoDaddy.
  • It reads one GoDaddy account per Atlas tenant. Credentials cannot be edited in place: disconnect and connect again with a new token.
  • It does not cover domains registered with other registrars, or SSL certificates bought from GoDaddy.
  • It does not check Microsoft 365 DNS health (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC); Atlas Advisor answers that separately.

GCC High tenants

On a tenant or deployment in Azure Government (GCC High), calls to GoDaddy are blocked by default, because they can carry VM, host-pool and tenant names to a service outside the Government boundary. Connect fails with an Azure Government (GCC High) egress boundary message and nothing is stored, and pages that read from GoDaddy stay empty. The operator who runs your Atlas deployment can approve GoDaddy as a destination that is allowed to receive that data; once approved, the connector works normally. Running in Azure Government does not by itself make a third-party integration GCC High or CMMC compliant.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect on the card and confirm. Atlas deletes the stored token for the selected tenant and stops the daily expiry check. Nothing changes in GoDaddy. Delete the token in the GoDaddy developer dashboard too if you no longer need it. You can reconnect at any time.

Troubleshooting

  • Paste a GoDaddy Personal Access Token, not a classic API key and secret: create a Personal Access Token and use that instead.
  • GoDaddy rejected the supplied credentials: the token is wrong, expired or revoked, lacks the domains.domain:read scope, or the account is not eligible for GoDaddy's domains API. Create a new token and connect again.
  • Domains stop loading on the GoDaddy page after it worked: the token expired, was revoked or lost its scope. Disconnect and connect with a new one.
  • GoDaddy rate limit reached (60 requests per minute): wait a minute and try again.
  • This domain has no DNS records at GoDaddy: GoDaddy holds no records for it, usually because the domain uses another DNS provider's name servers. Its records live with that provider.
  • No domains found: the token belongs to a GoDaddy account with no domains. Create the token while signed in to the account that owns them.
