VM Provisioning adds session hosts to an existing host pool from the Atlas AVD console. Each host is built from the pool's own settings (VM size, base image, naming pattern, network and directory join), so new hosts match the ones already running. No Azure portal navigation, no ARM template editing, no manual steps.
Key capabilities
- Deploy up to 10 session hosts into an existing host pool at a time
- Defaults come from the pool's settings: VM size, base image and version, disk type and size, naming pattern
- Hosts join Entra ID (with optional Intune enrollment) or Active Directory, matching the pool
- vCPU quota is checked before deploying, with a comparable VM size used when the requested one is short
- Deployment summary before you create, with the estimated hourly cost on Atlas AVD
- Live progress for every VM, and success only once the host has registered with the pool
- Concurrency limit and cooldown between deployments to avoid Azure throttling
- Each new host recorded with who deployed it, on the audit log and the environment timeline
