Image Management captures golden images from a source VM into your Azure Compute Gallery, replicates each version to the regions you choose, and keeps every host pool on the image you pinned. Spot hosts on an outdated image and re-image them on your terms, with release notes and a build log kept for every version.
Key capabilities
- Capture from a source VM, with Sysprep on a temporary copy so the original is never modified
- Optional AVD agent and FSLogix pre-install so new session hosts are ready sooner
- Azure Compute Gallery galleries, image definitions, and versions managed in Atlas AVD
- Per-version replication regions with Standard (Full) or Shallow replication
- Per-pool base image, pinned to a version or left on Latest
- Hosts on outdated images flagged, with Re-Image All: immediate, Rolling Replace (drain-first, no forced sign-outs), or as sessions end
- Release notes and a full build log for every image version
