Adaptive Quota™ tracks Azure vCPU quota for every VM family in every region your host pools run in. When you add session hosts and the requested VM size is short on quota, Atlas picks a comparable size that has room, guided by the pool's Cost First, Balanced or Performance preference, and logs the switch. It also forecasts when each quota will run out, alerts you before it does, and can file the increase request with Azure for you.
Key capabilities
- vCPU quota checked before hosts are added, with a comparable VM size used when the requested one is short
- Fallback sizes ranked by the pool's preferred size, favorites, past successful picks and allowed VM families: Balanced keeps the core count, Cost First may pick fewer cores and Performance more
- Sizes that recently hit an Azure capacity error are skipped for 12 hours, so the next deployment picks one that can be placed
- Days-until-exhausted forecast for each subscription, region and VM family, with medium and high risk levels you set (60% and 80% by default)
- Alerts to Teams, Slack, a webhook or SMS when usage crosses the high threshold or the forecast says a quota will run out
- Request a quota increase from Atlas, or turn on Auto-Submit Quota Requests, and follow each one in Request History
- Autoscale and Adaptive Density check quota before starting a host
- Works in Azure commercial and Azure Government (GCC High)
How Adaptive Quota™ works
- Atlas reads vCPU usage and limits for each VM family in the subscriptions and regions your host pools use, refreshing every few minutes
- When you add hosts, the requested VM size is checked against both its family quota and the region's total vCPU quota
- If either is short, Atlas picks the best comparable size that fits and records the switch in the deployment log
- Usage snapshots feed a forecast of when each quota runs out; crossing your threshold raises an alert
- Request more quota from the Adaptive Quota page, or let Atlas file it when the forecast says you will run out. Azure approves every request
Common Azure deployment failures it prevents
